Yesterday we spent the first few hours of the day on the train traveling from Nuremberg to Vienna. It was actually a really nice train ride. It was a super fast train and went through some beautiful German and Austrian countryside covered completely by snow. Chelsy took lots of pictures but I didn't get any on the phone (for the blog).
We arrived in Vienna in the early afternoon. We checked in at the hotel, then took off walking. I showed Chelsy the hotel I stayed at last time I was in Vienna, and we headed towards Stephensplatz.
Stephensplatz was a pretty amazing sight. It was full of people shopping, eating, and enjoying themselves. We ate a late lunch and began to walk down the high end shopping street.

The pictures are dark, but hopefully you get the idea.
Luckily for me, Chelsy didn't buy anything (although I said it was fine if she wanted to). I thought Paris had a lot of high end shopping, but I think Vienna may have as much or more. After all, it is "the Paris of the East". OK, maybe I made that up.
We kept walking until we found the big Christmas market at the Rathaus (city hall).

We walked around, had our usual gluhwein, and bought a few items. We had almost explored the whole area when our toes became frozen together, so we headed back towards the hotel. But not before I was able to buy a huge pretzel to enjoy at the hotel.
