I think it's fair to say we underestimated how many people would be around the town at this time of year. In a way it's good, in a way it's bad. Regardless, it was nice to see it wasn't a ghost town like we thought it might be.
Here's a picture from right outside our hotel.

We headed to the Markt square to find our first Christmas market of the vacation. Granted it was small, but it had ice skating, beignets, Belgian waffles, bratwurst, chocolates, pasta, cotton candy, and best of all gluhwein, which is heated wine to keep you warm.
After having our dinner between about 5 stalls, things began to shut down around town so we headed to a pub. In the pub we had some Bruges Trippel, Bruges Zot Blond, Leffe Blond, and Leffe Dark. Here's a picture from the pub.

That picture is a bit dark, but you get the idea. Tomorrow we get to explore Bruges in the daytime which means warmer temperatures and better pictures.
We'll update you tomorrow.
All I can say so far is thank goodness for cuddle duds (women's long underwear) and the gluhwein (the warm wine he mentioned)! Also, we have free wi fi at our hotel, hence the posts, and hopefully we can continue posting throughout the trip.
